English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the last year.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a historic innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on Thursday, 18 December.

The event will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her international debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Being nominated for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the run-scoring charts and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
