Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
